Short staffing is a big issue at Fort Tryon. We strive for quality care as nursing assistants and nurses. When we’re short one CAN that has a big impact. A resident can go without care for two or three hours and for us CNAs that’s a big issue. We don’t want to see our residents suffering. Our bosses don’t know what we as ZCNAs do, so that our residents don’t suffer under short staffing. We step up to the plate. We give up our breaks. Sometimes our lunch hours to make sure our residents are treated with dignity and respect in regards to their daily living.
As union members and workers we need to stand up for what’s right. We need good pay and good beneits to support our families so we can be there for our residents.
